GOODWILL HAUL??? tun, ta, tun...

HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH!

I FOUND MY HOLY GRAIL OF
GOODWILL FINDS.....

I've gotta tell you exactly how I felt when I saw it because
quite frankly....
after it ALL went DOWN, I officially consider my self a
MAJ-OR MAJOR
DORK!

So, on a unusual stop into a Goodwill on the other side of town,
(it was right there, how could I not stop?)
I perused the shelves quickly ....
I didn't even bring my wallet in because I told myself

NO MORE JUNK...
(see I feel like when I see things at Goodwill, I HAAAAAAAAAAVE TO HAVE THEM! they won't be there tomorrow, YOU KNOW?!?)

Anywho, figured if I take in my wallet I will buy unnecessary things....UNLESS I see something
A-MAZING, then I will run back to the car...
(heh, nothing's gonna be THAT  GREAT for me to run back to the car, RIGHT?)

Well, as I approached the furniture section I spotted a PERFECT dresser for a friend and thought I should snap a picture and send, I stepped back aaaaaaaand

The GATES OF HEAVEN opened and his GLORY shined upon me....
No joke that is how I felt...the breath was stolen from my lungs, my heart skipped a beat...
People, my heart started R-A-CING!!
My hands started to sweat and shake.....AHHHHHHHHHH!!!
(SEE, OFFICIALLY KNOW I HAVE A PROBLEM)
DORK SMORKUS, RIGHT HERE!

Simmering Sunday (Huevos Rancheros)

I love to cook
and I thought it would be a good idea to share some recipes.....

I'm Mexican, and live in a Mexican city so I love Mexican food...
But I also have tried my hand at others. I hope you will try some
of these recipes.. Today's Simmering sunday recipe is BREAKFAST!

HUEVOS RANCHEROS: a Mexican breakfast
(a little bit spicy)

Let me tell you, these were AMAAAA-Zing!
I just made them again today and they came out just as good or even better.

 You will need:
  • Eggs
  • corn tortillas {1  for every 2 eggs you will make}
  • Rotel or amy canned tomato and green chile mix {u can get it as spicy as u like, original is pretty spicy already}
  • vegetable oil
  • onions
  • cumin
  • salt and pepper
Directions:
  • Dice up 1/4 of an onion and saute them in a little bit of vegetable oil until translucent or clear looking.after this is done; poor in your can of Rotel.
  • Add about a Cusp (in the palm of ur hand, the little scoop in your palm) of cuminand salt and pepper to taste.
  • Simmer on Medium low or like a 4 if you have numbers on your stove for 5 minutes..taste and season again accordingly.
  • Poor about a tablespoon (poor and count to 2 quick) of oil in a fying pan.add a corn tortilla and fry until it's slightly stiff, do this to as many times as you need for your eggs{1 tortilla to 2 eggs is good}
  • Poor a little sauce on the plate and add the tortilla on top.
  • Next fry your eggs in the same pan that you cooked the tortillas, they are supposed to be sunny side up but you can fry them however you prefer only scrambled would be weird. Salt and pepper ur eggs in the pan.
  • Put the egg on top of the tortilla and poor more sauce on top..

I served mine with refried BLACK beans, OR TODAY I DID COUNTRY POTATO'S, mmmmmmmmm!!

You can't go wrong with this recipe It's delicous...
Enough Boring breakfast... :)

Jo Totes How I love thee!!!!!!

Drooling, Seriously!

This bag is my soulmate!
It's a camera bag with the Gorgeous-ness of a purse...
I wish my birthday was tomorrow....
How bout Christmas in  March?!?!?

This picture wouldn't be SO DORKY if I had a
Jo'ooooooooooo TOTE!
Anyone, anyone, anyone?!?! I might have to send smoke signals but I will get the message across that I
COVET this bag and want one! :)

Get your Vignette on!

I have been sooo busy learning about LABVIEW...
What is that you say??
Oh, I won't bother you with such useless information..but it is an Electric Engineer and Statistician's best friend..(Blah, I just threw up in my mouth)

But wait, Ginger you are neither of those,
I STINKIN' KNOW!!!!!!!!
That's why it was so miserable!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I made video's, took pictures and worked on tv shows in college?!?!?)

Looks fun right!?! :)

Anyway I had to get certified for work, so it CONSUUUUUMED the last three days of my life
And it helped me come up with this post.....  Computers and Software are all about DOING, and LEARNING!!

I had the privilege to take photos of my best friends gorgeous newborn.. 5 DAYS OLD!! :)

{I used to think that newborn photos were "my thing" but I am not so sure lately...
You see it makes it easy to take pictures of a NEWBORN (just birthed to 7 days old) when they sleep
I say these days because this is when they SLEEP the most and you can move them in any position you want. But I have been unlucky in this area lately but I still manage to get some cute ones. :)}

Anyway I wanted to introduce you to the easiest "EFFECT" to make your images looks great.

Photography 101B

I had a request for this post....
Which was really suprising cuz I thought NO ONE read it :)

But I was GLEAMING on the inside when I received a message from someone in NEW ZEALAND!!
That is SOOO cool AAAAA??
Thanks,  VANESSA who wrote:
" wow that was immensely helpful thanks! Could you please do another quick tutorial soon? I love taking photos but there is just so much to learn lol. Some tips about lighting indoors and out (in particular dealing with the sun and squinting etc) would be so appreciated "

So here it is...
We have learned in the old post about ANGLES

This one will be about Natural light and indoor lighting:
[lighting can make or brake a photo,so these are starter tips]

NOW LISTEN HERE PEOPLE!!!!
Camera's now days are SOOOO sophisticated,

ANY JOE SH'MOE CAN BE A PHOTOGRAPHER!! :)
Yes that's you!!!

Oh, maybe New Zealander's don't say JOE SH'MOE!?!?!? :)

Any WHOO :)
My Japanese friend once asked "what's a Negative Nancy?"
I said "like a Debbie Downer",
HUH??
She then replied, "why are they all NEGATIVE??"

UHHHHHH, I don't know!?? :)
(They are tho')
It was pretty darn funny...Us American's coming up with CRAP sayings :)

MOOOOOOOOOvING on!

1.There shouldn't be 2 sources of light in your picture (unless u are in a studio)
example: (these are basic rules of thumb for an amature)
  •  a sun and a flash =NO
  • flash and bright light (ceiling fan, lamp, overhead light)

SO in most cases 1 should be sufficient.
Unedited:
A flash and the ceiling fan provide light from the SAME DIRECTION..KEY!

Both of these  images were taken in a bedroom on the bed, of course.
Now the reason to choose these images as an example is that the light source is coming from directly above...most of the time this is the best type of lighting.

I would say though, for any amature photographer outdoor natural light is your best friend.
Shooting inside can be very tricky and you can get images like this....

Well, of course this baby (Lilly) is GORGEOUS but her color is dull and muted in this image due to lack of lighting and you would have to get in to TECHNICAL settings to change it then and there.

Which for you, I am trying to keep you away from until.....Photography 200 :)

So, stick to outside,
ONE Light source, the sun,
and if not use the flash away from other light sources like lamps and lights.
(unless they provide light in the same direction you are shooting, this way they supplement your flash)

Also remember if you are taking a picture with the light BEHIND your subject (like a sunset, or ball game) chances are all you will get is a silhoutte.... (which can be cool if that's what you're going for)

Block the sun or light with an object or angle yourself appropriately as soooo,

GAW- JUS!!!

Holla' at yo' girl!!! Happy Monday :)!

Cork Board RE-DO

Love this song :)
Remember it??

The 80's were AWESOME!!
The 80's revival recently in clothes has not been my thing...I like some of it, but there's something about seeing 15 year old girls wearing the look and not knowing anything about it that DOESNT SIT RIGHT WITH ME...

THEY NEED TO KNOW THE MUSIC IN THE 80'S WAS AWESOME!
Right, to the point of the post a bulletin board Re-do...

I had been wanting to do this bulletin board forever and I see them at the Goodwill ALL the time!
$1-$1.99, perfect price a litle re-do..

My motivation is that the refrigetrator can only hold so much, plus I think it looks messy and cluttered with invitaions, mail, pictures and drawings. Need somewhere else to put stuff..!!
Pull up coupons!! HELP!

My original inspiration was this Ballard design Corkboard

I got half way through this project and gave up...Too much work... And moved on to another idea :)
I always have BURLAP around, DON'T YOU? :)
I saw this bulletin board on Etsy and thought it was cute....

Started with this baby...Anyone in their right mind woulda passed  'er up? She was UGLY! But .99cents is worth the try.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

I did this project a long time ago and didn't do a step by step tutorial with pictures..SORRY! :)
But I just....
  • painted frame black
  • cut burlap to size and stapled it down.[STAPLE GUN]
  • to create a "thicker" boarder I made an additional border with black ribbon
  • made bird stencil (googled bird silhoutte) and cut out with exacto knife
  • painted bird black and free handed some branches
  • Stenciled "MESSAGE" on the top (NOT IN LOVE WITH THESE LETTERS)
Here are some other re-creations of bulletin boards to inspire you :)

THERE ARE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES....

GO DO IT!!
And little helper wanted an impromptu photo shoot with daddy :)

St. Patty's Day Clover (hydrangea/broccoli????) Tshirt

ANOTHER MAJOR FAIL!!!!

I had such high hopes for my Shamrock Tshirt for Little Helper....
(And it was a lot of work!!! URGH)

I was inspired to use a technique from this little tutorial from FAITH HOPE LOVE on Pom Pom Headbands..
Well hey, I could do that on a T-shirt and it would be a POOFY Lucky Shamrock...

It was POOFY Alright!
I chose a "template"
from the trusty "EVO"
{BTW did anyone see the report on how you can be tracked by the images you upload}
CREEEEEEEEEEPY!
Got to work!!
cut a template of a clover, free hand

three more times

now cut circles out of left over fabric

and more circles and more and more and more
(P.S. they don't have to be perfect)
Hmmmm, just a thought I don't think the word DON'T needs an apostrphe anymore :) Looks just fine without it, EH?  DONT DONT DONT DONT...you can tell exactly what I'm sayin' right? :)
(had a monster {the blue one} this morning)
Anyway after cutting like 20 circles and barely filling in one clover I called in the reinforcements..

I was like BABY, BABY , BABY, OHHHHHHHHHHH...........................
BABY, BABY , BABY, OHHHHHHHHHHH, I thought you would be ....
Helping me :) And then Hubby got to work cutting "circles"
I then proceeded to the petal process

pinch each circle in the middle and put a dab of glue on the bottom

place it on the petal

Little Helper "Helping" :)
Keep Going FOREVER, and Ever, and EVER and then you will have this. :) Add a little stem and ribbon..
TA-DA you have a Shamrock/Hydrangea/Broccoli Shirt..:)
I just started really cracking up at that, What a FAIL! :) It's ok, It was fun, and it is cute :)

She loved it, and wanted to pose with her new book

Barnyad Dance, "stomp you feet"
"clap your hands"...
Poor baby will be wearing this shirt to school today...Bless her heart!
Happy St. Patty's Day!!
